The 14th Weather Squadron, located in Asheville, N.C., expertly collects, stores and characterizes earth-space environmental data to rapidly provide tailored and simulated weather information and services that maximize the combat effectiveness of the Department of Defense personnel and weapons systems.
The 14th WS enhances the combat capability of the United States by delivering timely, accurate, and reliable environmental situational awareness worldwide to the Air Force, Army, Unified Combatant Commands, intelligence community and the DOD.
The squadron consists of 60 active duty officer and enlisted personnel, civilians and contractors. The majority of the personnel at the 14th WS are meteorologists, weather technicians and computer programmers that work together in accomplishing the mission.
