16TH WEATHER SQUADRON

The 16th Weather Squadron, located at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., is the center of excellence for development, implementation, and visualization of terrestrial, atmospheric and space weather models, displaying observational and model data, and identifying environmental impacts on future weapons systems.
The 16th WS's mission is to exploit cutting-edge technologies, science, and innovations to provide responsive, accurate, and relevant weather information to the warfighter, the intelligence community and other national agencies.
Additionally, the 16th WS is comprised of 65 active duty officer and enlisted personnel, civilians and contractors. The squadron also includes the operation of Det. 3, a GSU located at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, comprised of staff meteorologists delivering meteorological expertise to the base's research and development and acquisition communities.
