EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tech. Sgt. Andrew Kowal, 46th Combat Weather Flight NCOIC, monitors Doppler radar Sept. 2, just one day after the community here experienced seven tornados because of the base's proximity to Hurricane Gustav. The forecasters were assisted by personnel in the air traffic control tower and weather observers near the flightline to track the tornados and sound warnings in advance of the severe weather.
