David Elliott, 506th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, flight chief, and Senior Airman Ryan Felicilda, 506th EOSS, weather forecaster, check tactical meteorologist sensors along the flight line here Aug. 14. The sensors are checked every hour and uploaded for use around the Area of Responsibility. Sergeant Elliott, a DeFuniak Springs, Fla., native, is deployed here from the 14th Weather Squadron, Asheville, N.C. Airman Felicilda, a Gainesville, Fla., native, is deployed here from the 23rd Operations Support Squadron, Moody Air Force Base, Ga.

Iraqi, U.S. Air Forces establish weather partnership
KIRKUK AIR BASE, Iraq -- Col. Salman, Iraq Air Force Weather Service director, goes over a training schedule for IqAF weather officers as Master Sgt. Lisa Gore, 506th Expeditionary Operational Support Squadron weather flight superintendent, and Maj. Barry Hunte, Iraq Training and Advisory Mission-Air Forces' weather advisor, stand by. Recently a new partnership was established between the 506th EOSS weather flight and the IqAF weather team here that will improve the services they provide.

Kevin Fedon, a weather forecaster assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron at an air base in Southwest Asia, checks weather readouts, including temperature, wind speed, wind direction and precipitation, at a remote weather sensor. The weather readings are put into a weather model to help predict weather patterns and are used for daily reports to aircrews preparing for missions.
